What is a glamorous life?  It is a mindset.  It is a way of being in the world.  It exudes poise and confidence, even in the most difficult circumstances.  It is living a life of apparent ease.

The glamorous life is about keeping certain things hidden while illuminating the best. It is being a bit mysterious in a culture of over-sharing. It is being thrifty and self-reliant in a world of conspicuous consumption and helplessness.  It is about the balance between control and possibilities.  It is about knowing one’s own potential and working to achieve it.

And the glamorous life looks different for everyone.  Everyone has their own definition of what it means to live a glamorous life.  And that is how it should be.

For 2015, the theme for Modern Retro Women will be a glamorous whole life makeover.  We will be examining the disconnects between your definition of a glamorous life and how you are currently living.  We will explore ways to gain control of all of the demands placed on you so that you can begin to live with ease.  We will learn how to develop poise and confidence so that you can achieve your goals.  In essence, we will be delving into all aspects of your life (well, maybe not all aspects…some things should remain mysterious).

But be forewarned.  This isn’t going to be like one of those television makeovers.  This will take time, reflection, and action.  Despite the bestselling book titles, you can’t really make lasting change in seven easy steps.  This is beyond New Year’s Resolutions and goal setting.  This is a holistic approach to becoming the woman you’ve always wanted to be…and recognizing that who you want to be is dynamic and ever changing.

For now, I want you to create a notebook or journal for this process.  Whatever will work for you.  Right now, I prefer a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ 3-ring binder but you may prefer a full-sized binder or a good old generic composition book or even Evernote on your tablet. Don’t go bonkers on this assignment.  I know you are itching to go onto Pinterest and start downloading all of the “printables” and I’ll eventually let you loose to go online or to a stationary store and go bonkers.  But not right now.  Your task for today is to simply start a notebook (with paper) or a journal.  That is it.

Are you ready to make this the year to become the glamorous woman you’ve always wanted to be?  If so, join us for this glamorous whole life makeover!
