Madame Grés was not always Madame Grés the famous Parisian mid-century couturier. No, she started life with a very average sounding name: Germaine Emilie Krebs. But, who wants a Suit by Krebs? It doesn’t quite have the same sound as Suit by Madame Grés like our model in today’s glamour shot is wearing.
Miss Krebs tried on a couple more names before she finally landed on Madame Grés, a partial anagram of her husband, Serge’s, name (who left her after she opened her design house).
So, today’s Glamorous Whole Life Makeover lesson is that if you don’t like your name, just rearrange the letters to either your name or someone else’s, add an accent to it and, voilá, you have instant glamour!
By the way, in case you were wondering, I’m sure I looked exactly like the model in the photo during my day-long drive home last week. Okay, maybe not. You read yesterday’s post where I admitted to having let myself go, huh?
