Stop saying , “I want to be glamorous,” or “I wish I were glamorous.”
Instead, start saying, “I AM glamorous.”
And watch what happens.
It is a pretty amazing process when you use your language to change your view of yourself and your world.
Starting now, become aware of the language you use to describe yourself and your way of being in the world. For example, are you always making self-deprecating comments or apologizing for things that don’t need an apology or too often? You may think you are just being nice but you are actually reducing your personal power and others will treat you with less respect (even if they don’t mean to do so). It’s hard to be feel glamorous and powerless at the same time.
Being glamorous is a mindset. It is refusing to settle for mediocre. As long as you keep saying, “I want to be glamorous,” your mind just kicks back and focuses on the “wanting” part. Nothing will change. However, as you keep claiming your glamour, you will notice that you begin to think and behave in more glamorous ways. You may find yourself reaching for the T-shirt and yoga pants in the morning and deciding that you can be just as comfortable in something that makes you feel beautiful when you wear it. Or, you find yourself bringing flowers home more often to brighten up your dining table. You realize you ran out of paper plates months ago and decide you don’t really need them because you’ve started using your “good dishes” at dinner. You realize that people have been looking at your bosom because there is a big ol’ stain in the middle of your blouse that you just thought was water that had splashed onto your blouse when you washed your hands (yeah…that happened to me…I’ve since gone through my clothes and was horrified by how much food landed on my bosom and stained my clothes–two actions happened: I got rid of the stained clothes and started paying attention to the way I eat). You will be surprised by how quickly little changes start adding up so that your vision becomes a reality.
Ask yourself: Are you glamorous? Or, do you just want to be glamorous?
